This artist's concept depicts a possible scene of astronauts walking on Mars during a dust storm. The artwork was part of a new NASA study investigating possible future human planetary expeditions. Realizing that a hostile environment will confront space travelers at long distances, scientists and researchers involved in the study note the requirement for highly specialized technologies and systems (such as the durable suits, pictured here, for protection against the dust storm).
